Ryan Sicard and my Lab puppy Rebel

Let’s build a stronger Somerset together by electing me the Village President. Join me in shaping our future!

I appreciate your attention and support in sharing my vision for our community, or as I say, What do we want our community to be like now and in 15 years?

As a lifelong resident of 45 years, Somerset is not just a place I live; it's my home and your community. I have dedicated more than two decades to public service, providing common-sense solutions and fiscal conservatism to our community on the Village Board and other local elected offices (i.e., St. Croix County Board of Supervisors), a testament to my deep commitment to our Village and its people.

Please support me in becoming the next Village President by casting your vote for me in the Regular Spring 2025 Election (April 1st, 2025). For more information about how to and where to vote in Wisconsin, visit: https://myvote.wi.gov

Experienced Leadership

My many years of service have given me a thorough understanding of our community’s needs, aspirations, and unique dynamics. I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges & weaknesses we face and the fantastic opportunity for positive change: my knowledge and long-term priority of supporting economic development is a critical component of Somerset thriving into the future, this is the engine of prosperity for our community ,providing jobs and new, expansion, and retention of industrial, commercial, professional services, retail businesses, etc. This includes responsible housing growth. I will strive to work with businesses & developers in a fair and prompt review process, per ordinance and developers' agreements. I have extensive experience at various levels in the public sector dealing with large budgets, capital maintenance planning, public employee relations, complex public policy issues & board/committee dynamics.

Collaboration

Effective leadership requires collaboration. I am committed to working closely with fellow board members, village officials, staff, residents, business owners, taxpayers, intergovernmental (School Districts, Townships, County, State, & Federal), and local civic organizations (I am a member of the following civic groups Somerset Lions Club, Somerset Champions, Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Somerset Memorial Scholarship Fund and with work with other civic groups ) on relationships that solve problems. Together, we can shape a prosperous future for Somerset. We can work together on many things, even giving separate legal jurisdictions. We live in a small town, and things get political and turn people away from getting involved in our community; I can’t change someone's ideas, actions, or attitudes if they don’t want to be part of the solution. I will work with anyone trying to build a stronger Somerset. I am committed to keeping the communication process moving forward and finding common-sense solutions.

Pride in Our Community

I want every resident in our community feel proud to call it home & every business owner is proud to be a Somerset company. Whether it’s maintaining our parks, improving infrastructure, providing essential services such as high-quality policing and effective public works services (this includes supporting all our employees), or supporting local businesses, I am not just dedicated but deeply committed to enhancing our quality of life. I will tirelessly preserve responsible & conservative fiscal budgeting and policies, creating stability for the Village and taxpayers. I will work tirelessly to maintain & improve the Village’s good credit rating and manage its long-term debt.

Accountability, Integrity & Transparency

Open communication is essential. As a Village President, I will prioritize openness, ensuring decisions are made with reasonable community input and accountability. I will strive to provide regular constituent e-newsletter updates. I advocate for enhanced efficiencies and improved services using technology and to improve transparency and accountability via technology. Remember, we live in a republic; we elect officials to make decisions on our behalf. I will strive to have the most data available to make informed and intelligent decisions. I strive to develop short-term and long-term strategic plans, including but not limited to technology, Compherensive planning, transportation & infrastructure planning, park master planning, impact studies, and financial management planning. I will also prioritize including the public in allowed areas of the governmental process while allowing the Village Board & Committees to operate efficiently to conduct its business. As Village President, I will strive to demonstrate the utmost integrity and propose a Code of Conduct and Ethics ordinances to hold all Village Board members, Committee Members, Village Officials, and employees to high standards of integrity. I will uphold my sworn oath to support the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of Wisconsin, and faithfully to discharge the duties of their respective offices to the best of their ability. Iwill strive to make the continuous improvement process standard practice of the Village Board, Departments, and Staff to be more strategic in decision-making and conducting plan reviews, ordinance reviews, handbooks, policies, procedures & guidelines. I will always be open-minded on the issues, and my decisions will be what I believe is I want the best for our community, which I love with all my heart, being a 45-year resident of Somerset.
